Recycling in Ferintosh is handled by Can Pak Environmental Inc.
Collection day is every second Monday.
Please have materials out for collection by 7:30 am on the collection day. The Green Box should be placed in the same area where you place your waste for collection. Please place the Green Box in plain sight for easy collection.
The following materials should be recycled:
PAPER
- Newspaper and inserts, magazines, catalogues
- White writing & computer paper
- Greeting cards, non-foil gift wrap
- Junk mail, paper bags, envelopes, paper egg cartons, paperback and hard cover books, phone books
- **Shredded paper is only accepted if in clear plastic bags
CARDBOARD
- Flattened corrugated cardboard boxes (when flattened must be no larger than 36 inches square)
- Flattened cereal and food boxes (remove and discard liner)
- Flattened shoe boxes
- Milk cartons (rinse w/water and flatten)
- Juice Boxes
METALS
(No loose lids, trap inside can or discard; empty and rinse)
- Clean tin cans (soup, juice etc.)
- Aluminum containers (pie plates)
- Aluminum cans (beverages)
GLASS
(Empty and clean; discard lids, labels can be left on)
- Jars (pickle, jam etc)
- Bottles (all beverages, ketchup etc)
PLASTIC
(Discard caps and lids; empty and rinse)
- Household cleaner bottles
- Pop and beverage bottles
- Milk Jugs
- Detergent or fabric softener bottles
- Plastic bags (put together in one bag)
- Margarine and yogurt containers
HELPFUL TIPS
- Bundle or tie loose cardboard
- Put light items on the bottom of bin and paper items in a grocery bag so they don’t blow out
- put all plastic grocery bags into one bag and tie
WHAT IS NOT ACCEPTED FOR RECYCLING
- Waxed cardboard
- Paper towels or tissues
- Ceramics, china, glass plates, light bulbs or mirrors
- Tupperware or type containers
- Styrofoam packaging of any kind
- No Liquids of any kind (ie., motor oils, cooking oils, paint etc..)
